MX518s are going cheap these days so i'll probably get one of them. As for a keyboard, a proper gaming one for a high price seems really pointless, a basic £10-20 one should be more than sufficient right? A Logetic Media keyboard or a basic style one?

I've got the Logitech Media 600 Keyboard, and to be honest I love, best £6 bargain I've spent when I got it a few months ago when my Saitek Eclipse II died on me. This has pretty much everything that had, minus the backlighting, but then with a few more features thrown in. Absolute bargain keyboard :)

You should get exactly these - they're spot on, and don't break the bank.

Saitek Cyborg V5 Illuminated Gaming Keyboard £34.99 inc VAT

I've found that mid range Logitech stuff seems to suit me best. I did have a Razer mouse previously, but I felt it just wasn't as good as a Logitech, even ignoring that it cost significantly more. A MX500 corded mouse does me fine, cordless are just problem magents - and is there any gain really? Razer kit just seems to be LED lights and marketing. The keyboard I have is a Logitech Media 600 and it's great. I just toss it every 6 months when the keys get worn smooth. The only keyboard I'd consider instead would be one that worked after a washing machine (my previous 600 was a little flaky) but which also had keys that didn't go smooth.

So in answer to your original question, you should be spending £46.98 on a mouse and keyboard.

As much as you deem necessary.

Both are very personal and subjective.

Read some reviews, try them out and go with what feels best.
