Looking at a second hand set for sale at the moment. Guy is shifting his entire collection. He has 400kg of weights which is absolutely mental. I'm looking to part buy his barbell bar (though being rated at 700kg makes it overkill) and 140kg of weights.

What sort of price should I be paying?

thanks

Where does he live and how much does he want for the rest?
Min will be £1/kg imo, then that's a hefty bar so worth a bit of cash on it's own!!

If he'd be happy splitting I might be interested in the rest :p

Show me where you can get oly plates for 50p/kg :D

Actually I think you're closer with a £1/Kg. When I put my (home) gym together 5 years ago it was £1/Kg new therefore 50p second hand. But just done a quick search and they have gone up a lot in that time about £1.60/Kg now. So I would make an offer around 80p/Kg and go from there.

Yeah, inc postage you are looking towards £1.50/kg. Given the stuff lasts forever it won't devalue much. Great for selling, terrible for 2nd hand buying hehe

Def upwards of £1/kg even second hand. That will go up as the size of the plates get larger as well, so you might end up paying 1.5/kg for 15-20kg plates, but only 80p/kg for 2.5kg's.

For 140 plus a good bar, you'd be looking at around £170/200 if you're lucky. Some people just want rid, so let stuff go really cheaply. Other's want as much as they can get. I just missed a deal on a 7' bar/100kg plates, and a bodymax oly bench for £120 for example. Gutted.

You can always get a new 145kg set plus bar/collars from powerhouse for £227. Rubber coated tri-grips and free delivery as well. Good deal that.

Rough guesstimate anywhere between £140-180. Dependent on postage/collection. Depends how desperate he is to sell it too! Deals to be had either way!

He's having a laugh! Show him the price of new oly plates, unless they are rubber or bumper plates he has no hope of shifting them :p

He wants £2/kg, so he dosen't seem particularly cheap at all. Guess I'll just search on.

Depends really, are they rubber coated? tri grip? what sort of condition? If they're Eleiko bite his arm off! right up to the shoulder!

I paid £1.50per/KG new for cast iron. So he's having a giraffe.
