got an older 2.16ghz C2D macbook with cracked plastics round the bottom (keyboard side) and starting to crack round the screen edges.

anyone know how much apple are likely to charge me to replace the plastic pieces? or if there is a 3rd party place that can do this for not much dosh :)

They should do it for free as a rule for the top case only (bit with the keyboard and track pad) if it has been bought within the last 3 years.

If not you'll be looking at about £60+vat + labour charges.

How old is it? I managed to get both top and bottom done for free on our '08 macbook.Took quite a bit of work though.
There is a thread on here some where about this.....will have a look.

They'll do it for free even if it's older than 3 years. Just book a "genius bar" appointment and tell them that the lady you spoke to from customer support said you were entitled to a free replacement. They'll book it in and sort it out no questions asked.

its a 2006 c2d macbook, so i'm not really expecting it done for nothing, anyone know where i can buy them and diy?

Seriously, just drop it in to an apple store and they'll sort it for you. Even if they don't, it's worth a try before you start buying parts.

had my 2007 one done free a a few months ago, they did the bit around the screen and the keyboard/trackpad bit. went back the next week with a few mates n they got both theres done free too

Best thing you can do is go into the store and kick up a fuss. Throw in the old "losing faith in Apple" if they are being difficult and that is usually enough to sort it out =]
