how much to power my system

as they isnt any psu section i choose this place
my question is how much power will i need for system?
specs:
amd 3700+
a8n-sli
6600gt (will change to a 1950 pro/xt)
2 hard drives
and 1 dvd drive

The power supply calculator above will give you a good, generous estimate of the wattage of PSU your system will need. It does err on the side of being slightly high, because it assumes all components are under full load at once, which in practice they practically never will be. However since the load on the PSU depends more on which rails (the "power lines" of the PSU: normally there will be a 3V, a 5V and one or more 12V rails) are being put under strain.

For all intents and purposes though, unless you're building a very lopsided system (like with 12 hard disks or whatever) it will give you a very good idea of what you need.
 
thanks for the help the akasa looks to be ill get i used the psu calculator and it came up to 388watts even with a 1900xt listed so this power supply will last me a long time
