How much to run a car when you just get a licence

A mate is takin his licence now (in nl not uk) and wondered how much he would be lookin to spend per month to afford a car. He wants a 2.0 engine and a big car. He thinks 250E is enough i duno if it is tho.

Wouldn't it be better to ask a forum based in The Netherlands? I doubt many here have lived there or run a car over there.

It would be expensive. Insurance will be the killer. But I have no idea what insurance is like in NL. In the UK new drivers are more or less condemned to driving around in a small engined small hatchback.
