I have an AMD Phenom ii x6 1100T and im currently pumping about 1.45v into it (on auto it gets 1.26v) and can overclock to 3.7GHZ easily ... but say i want to save power and turn the multiplier down to 3.3GHZ and left the voltage at 1.45v would it damage my cpu since its not using the extra juice like it was before?

Thanks :P

Reducing voltage will never damage a CPU, if anything it will prolong the lifespan of CPU and motherboard. The only negative impact it can have is instability (errors/crashes) if you reduce it too much.

As jimbo19 says you could probably get away with 1.3V or less at only 3.3ghz (with turbo disabled), turbo is the culprit for boosting voltage so high in the first place.

You should be careful putting too much into your CPU if its not using it.

It will put on weight and then start to run more slowly, which will then lead to silicon disease, and clogged cache.

Remember folks, watch your CPU's diet.
