I use a DJ mixer (Numark DXM01) to flip between sound sources and sometimes run 2 sources together for example tv and games through my sub and active moniters.

My question is how much will this mixer be colouring the sound with the eq set to flat and is there something else i could use that would do the job better?

People here would not call my an audiophile becasue i dont have the right equipment yet, however getting the best out of what i have is very important to me.

Cheers,
Josh

Anything that is introduced in the signal chain will colour the sound to a degree. The real question is how much will it alter the sound... And that very much depends on the components making up the device. If the EQ is left flat then it shouldn't be doing a great deal, but DJ mixers aren't always known for their nice flat response. :)

Depends totally on what the rest of your kit is. If it's just TV and games then I wouldn't worry. If it's SACD and you're running power amps and bi-amped speakers worth more than a house then you might want to re-think.

Does it sound good to you? If so, job done.

I dont know the answer, but wouldnt a way to tell be to hook your source directly to your amp/speakers bypassing the mixer?
