hey guys,

decided im going to sell my 6990 and grab a 7990 while they are on offer!
im going to get the GPU and see how it plays BF4 and if its still lacking performance ill get a 4770k and mobo after xmas.

so will my i5 760@4ghz bottleneck the 7990 a lot?

cheers

Not really. Your CPU will be the limiting factor but you will still see a big performance boost in high resolutions.

Agreed, you'll definatly see a big boost..

If you are staging upgrades (potentially upgrading your CPU, motherboard and RAM in a few months months time) don't let the bottleneck deter you. As you'll see a nice performance hit when you upgrade.

But if you are thinking of keeping your current rig for another 2 years id personally just get the 7970.

I will definitely be upgrading my cpu mobo and ram after Xmas.
So I think the 7990 is the best for performance for money option, I will also be gaming at 1440p soon after.

yes i am aware that the CPU will hold the 7990 back, as long as it performs better than my 6990 now ill be happy :)

so this is what ill be running after xmas
YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte HD 7990 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £469.99

plus a 1440p monitor when i get my next bonus pay :D

all look ok? last me a couple of years?
also, this AMD mantle, will it work with AMD 7xxx series cards such as the 7990?

Mantle should work, logically it has to.
Otherwise out of AMD's new line up, only like two cards can actually use it (As they're mainly rebrands)
