I've recently learned how to skin Wordpress as part of my final year uni project and was surprised at how easy it was and how much I enjoyed doing it.

I was just wondering how much a freelancer would charge for a completely bespoke wordpress skin made from scratch (and obviously tailored to the needs of the client).

Just wanting a rough outline basically as I'm thinking about doing a few chargeable projects during the summer while I look for work.

Cheers :)

I taught myself they didn't teach the whole course in lectures and such. We all had the opportunity to go down a specialist route in our field and I chose web design.

I used Wordpress as more of a CMS than a Blog btw. The client liked the idea of blogging and RSS feeds etc, but also wanted the ability to edit their own pages on demand without any coding knowledge. After a bit of research I thought Wordpress would be best suited for them and a good bit of side learning for myself too.

I would suggest that you spend most of your time designing, building and releasing the for free via the wordpress site. Make sure your name is on them and if they are popular you can always use it as a plus point on an applications for web jobs

Yeah that's always an idea but I was thinking more of designing custom layouts for Wordpress for specific clients.

Depends on any number of factors mate, who the client is, how good a designer you are, how good your CSS is, is wordpress what they're asking for or do they simply want a CMS?

Yeah, fair do's. I guess there's simply not a price you can put on it as it would depend on a few things like you said.

Cheers for the advice anyway :)
