How much would...

edit thought you meant a boot. iirc you can't get just c.v joints. So you'll have to replace the whole shaft. depending on the model, a new shaft will cost about 70-80 quid I think

depends have bad it is. if you're getting a nasty cracking sound on lock, i wouldn't drive it further than a few miles. definitely don't go booting it down country roads and watch out for potholes!
try eurocar parts or gsf for competitive prices.

If you have a mild click you can usually get away with it for a while. Nextdoor's Volvo 850 has been clattering like mad every time he pulls out of the drive for at least a year.

If it's seriously clunky and/or you can feel it tugging at the wheel then it's bin o'clock and needs doing pronto or it will totally sieze up and you will not be able to steer (had this on a Rover 213, oh the hilarity of having to handbrake turn it into a layby with a locked CV and then change it at the roadside in -10 windchill)

Most French hatches have "fused" joints so like the guys say you will need a whole new shaft, luckily this makes changing it very easy as there is relatively little dismantling to be done.

I had this go on my old Clio, I noticed a clicking noise when turning in tight circles, then the next day after a fairly long motorway journey, when pulling away from the lights at the motorway exit the steering wheel was hard to hold in a straight line, wibble wabble :p

It was then also making constant grinding and clicking noise when going along in a straight line!

Just shows how potentially fast a clicking CV joint can deteriorate
