My D70 sensor got the stage where it was far too dirty for my tastes, so off I trot to my local photography store to purchase some cleaning swabs.

It better be the best damn cleaning kit ever for £49

Tried to get them to drop the price but no joy :(

I got my cleaning kit for my 20D sensor online for under £30, including the fluid and about 10 swabs. High street stores=rip off indeed.

Yuck, look how mucky my sensor was

I had my D70 prefessionally serviced and cleaned in Stoke for less than £50 - Whilst I waited.
(I was going the the US the next day and a lump of crud the size of yorkshire appeared on the sensor)

I think I need to clean my sensor (starting to notice a few specks)

How are you getting those images SDK / Paulstat?

Small arpeture (sp) f22 + and shoot at either a nice blue sky, like SDK^ or I guess a well lit white wall/something similar would do it.

Guessed as much, just tried it out. A few specks here and there plus what looks to be a hair. For now I will just use the clone tool to sort it out, see how it goes.

pfft, that's nothing.
Look at the sensor on my 10D a couple of years ago.

Noooo. I had sleepless nights from that image. I can still hear the screams :( Sensor cleaning is like attaching your first heatsink. You've just spent a hell of a lot of money on your new toy and now comes the fun part. Will you break it? :) I used to be scared but the cleaning pads I use are just so easy I don't worry. When I first got my 10D dust was like Birdflu. "OMG DUST!!! NOOOOO!!" But now I just don't care. I can easily clean the sensor or remove bits with the clone tool.

hehe - Exactly how I felt, now I clean the sensor in about 2 mins without even thinking about it. Good comparison with the heatsink as well :)

I`ve just tried cleaning mine for the first time and i cannot get it totally clean

first of all i used a rocked blower to move any loose dust then i used a wet & dry sensor swab kit, thought it was going well but the dry swab left a few fibres :(

I managed to get them out but cant get the ccd totally clean

each time i think its clean a few tiny specks appear, ive been at it for 2 hrs + and i`ve managed to get it good enough for now

f36 - a few noticable specks
f29 - same specks, bit more blurred
f22 - specks not too noticable, but still annoying
f16 - f3.5 cant see them at all

i was thinking of buying one of those "charged brushes" that attract the dust

anyone used one? are they worthwhile? any recommendations?
