hi im thinking about getting a new card to replace my 6990 as i cant stand the noise anymore are the 7970's much quieter ?

how noisey are 7970's

Get a non reference 7970 and you'll have to check if it's running, it'll be so quiet compared to your 6990 as afaik they we're all reference and known to be hot 'n noisy.

Get a ref/cheapest 7970 and buy a vga cooler like the arctic, providing they can fit in your case.
