How noisy?!

Just got a couple of Netgear smart Gb switches. Work great, but the volume of the fan is louder than one of my water cooled PCs!!

Anyone water cooled their switch yet?!?

(Other ideas welcome)

Im thinking about modding a dynamode gb switch aswell. The fans are a nightmare. I might put a rheostat in but not sure if it would work or not...

Higher end kit that's designed to run 24x7 doesn't really have "quiet" as a design goal.

Yeh the switch I have is ment to be put into a rack. Ive opened the case up and found there isnt much inside these things. A psu board, main circuit board with the ethernet sockets in groups and heatsinks on all the chips. I wont be putting anything on top of this switch so I reckon a rheostat would quieten the thing down. If it dont like it I can easily put it back to stock and move it on.

Im interested to see one of these things watercooled

shouldnt be too hard to get running.

yeah! sure you could get slightly more than 1000/100/10 with a little bit more Vdimm
