I saw this on ebay:

I7 920 940... 'Supercharged'

Works upto 97°C?!?!

How not to fry the chip I think. And they don't sell it with any better cooling, just a stock fan. Be lucky if it lasted a few month before frying. Imagine a 24hour test!

Lol one of the pictures says "Smells like BS" lol have they been HaXoR'd

Yea, I saw that - very funny, but I think the seller is trying to relate it to the EE chips, while his i7 920 is "Extreme", and only for " Pros".

That said, I actually believe the whole page. I believe that he would sell me a perfectly functioning Core i7 920 OEM, which will run at 4.3GHz @1.51V and 97 degrees c. So as far as it goes, I'm betting there is no false advertising here.

However, the page makes it out that this is a good thing and gives no mention that it will likely turn into a melted puddle of silicon should you look at it the wrong way.

But I gotta say, it's massively entertaining read, especially when you read the feedback and see several people have bought these things :) these guys are the true Pros, I bow down to their awesomeness.

Ha ha! I dunno! All the images are coming from the same image hosting site. And the bull**** image is actually called that. (smells_like_bull****.jpg)

So it's not like someone replaced a picture called CPU123.jpg (or whatever) with that image. Strange!

I love the pics of the two chips saying "suckers code" on 975 and "pro code" on 920. Quality.

But really, is 1.5V not going to fry those chips. Given Intel state 1.375V as maximum for D0 stepping. I wouldn't want one. 4GHz is enough for me =D

Also, I think the smells like bull**** pic is relating to the CPU-Z image of the 975 mate ^^

4300MHz @ 1.510v @ 205BCLK @ up to 97°C or your money back!

well what is everyone waiting for?

let's all get one and fry it in cooking oil
and then get our money back!

Probably more use for cooking eggs than as a CPU. I knew that would be 'lighten' peoples moods when they saw that **** :)
