How often do you back up?

I backup around once every 2 months

I go for the most important documents I keep a separate hdd away from the PC

what do you lot do?

Robocopy to a USB drive about once a week. Used to do it every night. That is My Docs and Itunes. Mail is on an Exchange server

Everytime I copy stuff from my camera, or get more music etc, I robocopy over to an another disk and also to the media center in another room.

I also occassionally upload all my photos to my work PC, incase my house burns down. (the music I can get again)

Only got 2 HDs I'm concerned about backing up regularly, the OS drive (about 90GB) and my photo/DVCamcorder drive (about 200GB). Take full disk images every week, keep 2 copies of each on the backup drive. Copy out latest version of each onto external 1TB drive each week. That's all automated. Also use SuperFlexible file synchroniser (brilliant program) for maintaining daily file-by-file copies of important folders (MyDocuments, email, music downloads, guitar music stuff, etc..;) onto my NAS.

I don't really. I don't keep anything vital on this machine.

Any vital documents I have I upload to free storage sites (Google Docs).

Everything else is replaceable.

home pc: just back up my dad's important wage information to an SD card
My laptop: set Windows to do it once a week to my external HDD

Music, pics, docs and game saves all go to a rarely used HDD and an external drive about once a month. Important stuff like thesis work and pics of dead pets and relatives get the above treatment but also get put on a USB pen at my parents' house and an SD card.

Not as often as I should. I try and do it every time I add new photos/videos or music. Manual back up to an external drive.

I rrally need to work out some suitable automated solution, just haven't got round to it yet

I only backup my photo's and Music. Photo's are backed up everytime I add something new. They are copied to external drive and backed upto DVD. Music is burned to DVD when I have enough to fill a disk.

My current backup is circa 100GB hence external storage is the only option, unless someone has a spare LTO 2/3/4 drive ;)

part of my new years promise, gonna start doing a monthly back up to an external hard drive and a quarterly/half yearly back up to dvd aswel

I last did a full backup to Freenas PC with 2x 250GB drives when I installed Ubuntu 8.10, so late October?

I am looking at a new solution to do regular backups though as I do not particually like Freenas...

After i have recoved 1/2 the files after a HD failing.

These days i use a seprate drive for the OS, that way i can mess it up as much as i like without losing my main stuff lol. That would prob be better if i backed it up too :(

I've got a RAID 5 so not too worried about disk failure, I back up once a week to the NAS in the lounge and most of my important docs I carry about with me as well on a USB drive.

I have a blu ray disc at my mums which has all my photos and documents on, I renew that every couple of months.

Never used to backup either.

Now I'm RAID1 (going RAID5 this week to increase capacity), duplicate the irreplaceable stuff on an external HDD stored 120miles away and I'll update those files once a month or so and I upload up a catalogue of the files on the RAID to a hosted webserver (so I know what files I had for the replaceable stuff so I can replace them if need be)
