How often do you change fluid? Honestly!

reading a post in another thread made me think about this. I know it is advised around the 6 month mark by a few people but honestly i only do mine when i change something in the loop. So how often do you change the fluid? do you flush everything out and clean blocks? or do you just keep looking at it and think "well it's still working"

i change parts all the time and have never had a full 6 month run without changing something and therefor changed the fluid. but i know ppl that have gone 2 year

I am coming up to the 2 year mark :S

Tempted to add an extra 120 rad and add my GPU to the loop though.

Been a year since I built so it's been a year since its been changed :D.

It's started to go a bit cloudy so it's time to change. I have a 7970 block on the way and a couple of fittings from ocuk so be a good time to swap it out.

Does anyone know if it would be ok to use deionised water that's been sat in a plastic bottle for a year? (Bottle it came in) somewhat concerned it would leech from the plastic but not sure if it really makes a difference.

I've been on the same base fluid since I moved to watercooling just over 18 months ago. Just drained the fluid out into a jug and filtered it back in with some more when I made changes. I've got no intention of changing it for at least another year or two, but I keep an eye on it to make sure nothing has changed.

When I initially built my loop, it was about 18 months before I changed my first component and re-filled it.

Water was still clear and temps were as good as day one. Had a few component changes since and I'm rebuilding into a new case tomorrow.

I haven't changed my fluid once, since I set up my first loop. I am doing a new one soon though, over the next week in a new case with some new parts so I'll change it then.

Left one rig 4 years without touching it, temps stayed fine so never felt the need to mess with it. The water was very green when i finally got around to dismantling though. :)

Every couple of years if I can get away with it. Longest I have gone is 3.5 years without changing. When I do a change everything gets stripped down (blocks included) and given a thorough clean/flush.

seeing that some of you have gone 3 to 4 years shocks me. i would think 12 months would have been a max, i should let things run a little longer and not natter as much
how long will pastel last without changing colour, or just stopping working as good.

Current system is 2.5 years with plain RO water and a few drops of copper sulphate, temps are the same as always :)
