How often do you get a new GPU?

Annualy? Every couple of years? Every single time a faster card is released? Once in a blue moon?

curious. A card used to last me quite a few years but this jump to 4K is going to force me to buy a new card within 12 months I think

If you can't run the games you want to play at the settings/resolutions you prefer with acceptable frame rates to you, then that's the time to upgrade.

I suppose if you have money to blow then upgrade every new release.

Tricky one though, because everyone's preferred settings/resolution/framerate, is everything maxed out, highest possible res. at 144hz

It's about where we all personally draw the line.

Every 5 years or so.

Game development is dominated by the consoles. More frequent upgrades are pointless.

My 970 will do me until PS5 and XBOX2 in 2020.

But.. But ... 4k gaming dude!

I'm saving up for either a 1080Ti or the AMD equivalent. Something that can really hammer 4K at high settings.

Problem is I have other hobbies that I have to feed too. If it weren't for them I would have a lot more money to pump into my rig.

First world problems eh.
