How often do you reinstall XP Pro compared to Vista

Was just wondering how often member’s reinstalled XP Pro compared to Vista, I installed -
XP Pro = every 6month’s, weekly defrag + Ccleaner (daily if surfed the net heavily)and driver update’s when necessary.
Vista still on original install – 9 months and still going strong, weekly defrag + CCleaner (daily if surfed the net heavily) and driver update’s when needed.
 
Never until it breaks, both xp and vista... Vista a little bit more often as it stupidly dies on changing the motherboard, even a small chipset change like 945p to 965p causes a bsod while xp happily runs though many different chipsets...

Defrag once a week, sometimes longer, whenever I install a new game or a big patch comes out.
Never clean browser cache or clean other things with ccleaner.
 
In two years and a few months of having my old machine now, I've had to do a clean install of XP Pro once. (6 months ago?)

I think it makes a big difference staying ontop of; system tweaks, cleaners, antispy, defragging, etc. If you are in a good routine of keeping your house in order than unless something completley unforseen happens, shouldn't be needed all that often imo!
 
Still on my initial Vista install from a little over a year and a half ago, and i've been through 3 mobo's, several GPU's and at least 4 CPU's since then. Always a case of just bunging new drivers on and not had a problem, still smooth and error free :cool:
 
tbh, all you should need to do is..

ccleaner
defrag

i set ccleaner /auto to run daily, and my defrag takes care of itself

i never install anything after the first 2 days of a system being built
 
I used to re-install XP fairly regularly but I got over that. :p It's just an OCD thing like defragging every day, it makes no actual difference, unless you REALLY ****ed up your machine somehow.
 
I've got an image, so whenever I get a problem I just restore an image which is rare for my own machine. This builds been on for a good year or so.

Vista has been running without fault on my laptop since I got it in August. Once I've finished 6th form, I'll format it.

probably helps not to have things installed/uninstalled all the time

but i never need to..

firefox
steam
7zip
'media players'

I don't need anything else


also reg cleaning all the time can be a bad thing..

I presume you meant to spell board the way you did instead of 'bored', in which case :rolleyes: :p

I have xp on my laptop and desktop, laptop is about a year old so not done a reinstall, and desktop has never been done afaik and thats like 8 years old lol, christ thats crazy, may reformat sometime next week actually if i'm board. ;)
