And if you do is it usually a full upgrade (mobo / cpu / ram / vga)?

I am just about to complete my upgrade.

My current system:

athlon 64 3800+
2gb ram
ati 3850 agp
1 x ide 80gb hdd
1 x sata 300gb hdd
corsair 450w psu
win xp pro sp3
asus av8 deluxe mobo

New parts:
2500k cpu
8gb ram
ati 6950 2gb pci e
1 x 2tb sata 3 hdd
corsair 850w psu
win7 64bit premium

Prob about 4-5 years since i upgraded lol.

I have just built a new system, and my first desktop since 2007 (used a couple of laptops since). My intention will be to upgrade as I go. I have a 2500k and a solid mobo, so that will keep me going for sometime.

I want to upgrade the RAM (only 4GB at the moment, but no rush to do it just yet), an SSD (don't have one at the moment), and some more hard drive space (only got 500gb at the moment).

I will add some bits in the new year, but I am in no rush to at the moment.

put an SSD in there :)

It feels like my Q6600 has been around since the dawn of time. Lasted very well but it will go next year with the arrival of IB I should think...

Every year or so I add something new, but haven't had a full system upgrade in a long time - only use the system for gaming and there really hasn't been any need to upgrade.

I'm on an Athlon 64 4400+ still, which is about 5 years old. However, I've upgraded the gfx card twice in that time and installed windows 7. Still seems very speedy and I can play all the latest games! Thinking early next year is probably about right for an upgrade though.

Not that often for me, usualy add a hard disk (solid state was last addition). Then maybe after 4 or 5 years i'll do a full system rebuild. Depends on how the pc is running and what my current needs are. I have a cheap soundcard on order from here, so that will be my next upgrade. Can't see my machine needing a major rehaul for a while as i rarely game now.

Although i am looking at joining the darkside (not fully) and buying a 2nd hand mac, don't hate me i am just curious.

I don't play many games and when I do I just use low settings :D

I use VMWare all the time so I'll make good use of quad core + lots of RAM but skimp on the gfx card. I'm just about to "upgrade" to an Athlon II X4, mATX mobo with Radeon on board and 8GB ddr3 (cost £80 in total 2nd hand :o ). I already have a 64GB SSD which is one of the best upgrades I've ever done.

In the nearly 18 months i've been on this damn forum, i've upgraded waaaay more than i should have lol

not going to list everything, i'd be here all day haha

3 mobos, 3 cpus, 2 gpus, 2 coolers, new case and a full wc build. All in the last 18 months.

Oh a new power supply is on its way and I might be drooping a large amount of cash on a new case and WC gear soon.

i normaly have a full upgrade every 3 years with the odd upgrade inbetween if im bored or got the money LOL

Whenever my computer stops being able to do what I want it to do at a reasonable speed, which usually works out every two or three years.

Bought my system 3.5 yrs ago.

I have upgraded parts along the way. Added HDD's, SSD, changed case, blu-ray, 3D monitor, changed GPU...

Just bought a 2600k, Z68 MBoard, 8GB Ram, 650D Case & will be getting a cooler when in stock.

That should hold me off for a while. Hopefully :S
