How often does GP changes refresh?

According to this it sounds like every 90mins a windows workstation will refresh it's GP. (Foreground vs. background processing)

I created a new GP that opens up the windows firewall to enable some of our Windows 7 machines to allow Spiceworks to do it's magic when it scans the machine.

I have applied the GP to the correct OU.

Am I right in assuming that the new GP will be picked up and applied after 90mins?

I'm trying to avoid the need to think up elaborate ways to get the workstations to run gpudate remotely or go to each machine manually.

You can also change the refresh rate in Group Policy to reduce the time for future reference.

Or in GPMC you can right click the OU which you have linked the GP to and force a GP update for the whole OU. (in Server 2012 r2 anyway).

Just to make sure it's working, run gpupdate /force on one of the machines then gpresult /r to see if it's applied correctly.

If that's OK leave it to refresh, however a reboot of all the PC's will be required before the changes apply.
