Two questions..

One thing I have never considered is me CMOS battery in the mobo. How often do you guys replace it ?

Second one.. Got me thinking earlier as I have a USB powered RGB strip for behind my monitor which was temporarily plugged into the " Flash Bios Port " and it remained on for a few hours without me knowing even when the PC was powered off... could that run off the CMOS rather than the PSU ?

Thanks

Never had to change one on a home pc, had several on work Dell pcs over the years, there's usually a warning on boot but the computer generally continues to work for ages.

And power goes to usb
When pc is off
So you can still charge usb devices
If pc is off
You can stop it doing that
Should you desire
Setting in bios called erp (on my amd board anyway)
Some boards it's erp on or off
Other boards allow granular control
Enable or disable individual usb ports
And some other settings

I replaced one in a new Asus (spit) motherboard otherwise, when settings are no longer retained.
Usually more than five years. We keep a good supply now with garage door clickers etc needing the same CR2032 battery
