Just wondering how overclockable a ocuk radeon 6850hd is? Has anyone here done it?(I'm sure there is) what could I increase the levels too? Is it worth it? Can I damage the card badly if I tried?
I was thinking of using Msi afterburner or just doing it in the ccc.
Any help would be much appreciated

Stock voltage they are good to around 850core/1100 mem on average.

With a volt bump they can go to 975/1150 if you're lucky.

on msi afterburner iy only allows me to push upto 850 core/1200
how would u get it to 975 core? not that i want to though just curious!

is there a tutorial on here on how to know when u are on the limit and how to oc graphics cards and such?

is there much performance difference upping the core and mem on this card and generally?
i know from reading voltage is the deadly thing to play with so i take it u put it up in 0.1 or 0.01?im not going to play with this just looking for a little knowledge.
sorry just intrigued and wanna learn

im also wondering how long u should run a graphics stress(stabilisation) tester for? i was thinking of using kombuster that comes with afterburner is that a good program for this or?
what should i be looking for bar the heat temps? anything above 80 c i will take as too much (my card has never been over 59c)
does it just blank screen or shut down if its to overclocked for the stress test or?
sorry for the million questions.

The Asus cards are great overclocker have mine 970core and 1200 stock volts and maxing out the voltage 1.2 something I get 1035core :) but I don't need that much performance so run 900-1150 24/7 using sapphire trix

With my MSi R6850 I'm able to keep it stable at 950MHz core and 1150MHz mem. I took both clocks down 20MHz just to be on the absolute safe side, though.

Btw, on stock voltages.

i just run furmark untill the temp levels out then adjust fan accordingly .
dont forget you can use trixx too to overclock

thanks for the replys
i set the core clock to 850(max setting on afterburner) and the memory clock at 1101 did a good 20 mins on furmark and temp didnt go past 61 so thougght that was fine and stable with no problems.

agnostic- how did u get the core to 950? as msi only allows u to go to 850 tops! also the voltage is not adjustable (i have unlocked it in settings) and the shaders are are not adjustable which im sure i cant play with on this card.
is trixx a better program or? and shader but im guessing i cant play with that anyway
cheers for all the help

well after reading on this topic decided to download trixx and use that program instead.
i used agnostics example and set my card to 930/1130 on stock voltages.
did a gpu burn in on kombuster for 20 mins and temps settled at 62c every so often moving to 63 then back down had no black/blue screens or crashes so im guessing this is stable or...?
im more than happy to leave it that and dont want to push it any further but just want to know how do u know when u have gone to far? and how u find the sweet spot so to speak? is it when it stops crashing or?
also with the settings i have is it safe to run it at this settings 24/7 as this is my intended plan.
also with these settings are they safe or? does it cut the life of the graphics card down by much or at all? i suppose what im asking are what are the dangers and probability.
sorry for so many questions im new to all of this and as said before I HUNGER FOR KNOWLEDGE!!lol

heat is the killer and 63 c is fine . cards are built to take well above that so you will be fine . maybe even tweak the voltage and get to 950/1200 . always run furmark or whatever after to check temps . ive had my 5850 to 1032/1225 but only for benchmarking as the fan was too loud
cheers

What kinda of increments do u put the voltage up by? What temps do u start to worry at/ideal temp?

How do u know when u have gone to far crashing or?
Would I gain much if any performance if I upped it to your shown spec?
And from what I have done from the standard spec(775/1000) to what I'm running now(930/1130) will there be much performance gain in game? Or is it more a benchmark and brag win.

when im gaming my card is at 950/1200 and the volts are 1.2 fan is at 50% . when benching fan is 100% so yea braggin rights for a 5850 as i can get just over 5000 3dmark 11 . you might be able to get lower volts but i cant be bothered as the temps are fine when gaming . you wont notice any difference in gaming if you overclock any more
hope that helps
cheers

My Powecolor 6850 run happily at 930core/1075mem 24/7 for a year or so. It could bench happily at 970/1150 but it needed a lot more volts to do so and I wasn't confortable with that for 24/7 running. At 930/1075 it was 100% stable and ran nice and cool.
