I know this has been discussed heavily but none of the discussions give a majority agreement...how would it run on

E8500 stock
4 gig DDR2
Sapphire 4870
1680x1050

??
I always loved the gta games and I am bout to begin some PC gaming, but I don't want to play it if it's going to be choppy as @*!? :p

Should be absolutely fine I think. Is the 4870 512MB or 1GB?

I don't know exactly how well it'd play, as I haven't tried GTA4 on PC, but I can't imagine it running choppy with that res and card.

Have they fixed all the problems with GTA4? I loved San Andreas but didn't get IV due to all the issues on release. Like having to install the Rock Star Social Club to play! etc. :D

I have (will have to put my proper sig back) E8500 @4ghz 4850 512mb, 8gig 6400. On the in-game benchmark with auto settings and at 1680x1050 I get 54-55fps so not too bad. Overclocking the CPU made a nice difference. Make sure you have the latest ATI drivers! with 9.2s i got 39fps, with the 9.3s it was about 52fps and now using the 9.4s. Also one final note is that when i used 4gig it used a huge % of my system memory. Now I'm not saying that 8 gig will be any faster but it will be using almost all of it with 4gig (I think it was about 93% to run the 30 second benchmark) It makes me wonder how a 32bit OS would affect this because any single application can only access upto 2 gig of RAM.
