How quickly will cleared finance show on an HPI report?

I'm looking to buy a new bike which was previously on finance however the owner has cleared it on Friday. I was hoping to buy the bike tomorrow but I was wondering if I HPi check it tomorrow, will it have updated or will I just be wasting my money?

Is there any other way of checking that the finance has been paid off?

I very very much doubt it would have been updated, usually takes a month or so. Best thing to do would be for you to do the hpi check and if it's not updated then get him to ring the finance company (on speakerphone) to confirm there's no outstanding finance in front of you. That's would I would do anyway..

Ring the finance companies and ask them for confirmation of clearance.

You can do this in front of the owner or with his permission, he might have to ring the finance company and give them authorisation to speak to you about the status of his account.

or just get him to ring them on speakerphone ?
