How safe is Norton Ghost?

I'm looking for a good backup program for creating images of a few computers in my parent's office. I already have a 320GB Western Digital Network Drive, so I just need the imaging software. Norton Ghost 10 and Acronis True Image 9 seem to be the main programs out - anyone have any recommendations about which one to go for? Also, can I install them on as many computers as I need or do I have to get a multi-user license?

I've used Ghost 9 on a friend's computer before and one thing concerned me a bit. The backups were done from within windows and there didn't seem to be an option to boot to another environment to create them there. Surely it's a bit dodgy to be backing up windows while it's running? I'm going to be using it for some important files on my parent's computers so I better not get anything wrong...

I suppose I'm mainly asking which is the safest imaging program you can get. Anyone have any ideas?

As for the license you'd need to speak to Acronis about what options you have for more than one machine.

I have Ghost 2003 and Acronis True Image.

I have Ghost on a bootable CD and run it from DOS.
