how sealed and airtight does a 320d air housing have to be?

Long story short bmw design were spanners when they come up with the genuis idea of putting the e90 air filter housing where it is

Long story short its a royal pain.

But managed to do it without taking off the strut brace. However. I have one seized and rounded hex bolt on the rear of the housing
so the plastic has snapped. I have another one that was seized and plastic snapped off.the housing

The two bolts that were now holding the housing in one I can do up. But one is at the back of the housing and for the love of god doesn't seem to be going back in the thread hole and the housing just won't sit right

So at the moment the air filter housing is not airtight

Is this going to cause an issue?

Ignore. The housing is sat in properly now and held in with the two hex bolts.

Not a 5 min job like most cars. Its taken me an hour

Pants design. Every single one I have seen has already been broken.

Cant imagine what they were thinking of!

To think they actually employ degree level people and pay them lots of money to come up with crap like this. :(

Well done for resolving it

Ha ha ha ha ha human!

Try it on an E53 X5 3.0D. I was absolutely shocked :(:(
