How should I connect everything to my TV?

Hi all,

I've not got much in the way of AV kit, but I could do with a point in the right direction on how to connect everything up.

I've got a Bush 28" Widescreen TV, Sky+, a Pioneer DVD Surround Sound System, and a PS2. (Plus a Phillips VCR which isn't connected as I haven't got enough SCART sockets).

The TV has three AV channels, one SCART for the Sky+, the second SCART for the DVD player, and the PS2 is connected to some red, white and yellow ports on the side of the TV as well.

I have three problems, first, and least important (just to be different ;)) is that I can't connect the VCR as I haven't got enought SCART sockets, the second is that that I can't get surround sound from the PS2, and the third is that I've just acquired a projector from work for the World Cup.

Now the VCR thing isn't all that important (unless it's an easy fix) but it would be nice to watch the world cup on the projector with surround sound, watch DVD's on the Pioneer with surround sound, and also play games on the PS2 again with surround sound.

Is there a way of daisy-chaining the SCART connections to achieve what I want? Also, what cables am I likely to need, and can they be sourced from retail stores, as I'd like to pick them up tonight/tomorrow morning for the England game tomorrow if possible?

Any help appreciated. :)

Sounds like you just need a scart switch box, basically 4 scarts in and one scart out. There not expensive and you can get a number of ones with different sizes.

Problem with your sound is I'm guessing the all in one DVD/amp kit has no sound inputs or only 1 sound input. If you have at least 1 optical or coaxial in then you can use an optical spdif switcher.

If you manage to get all the sound through the amp then you may want to upgrade your scarts to ones that don't carry audio as this reduces possible interference(not essential however)

Your PS2 you really want to try and get this connected via the scart socket rather than the poor quality composite (white and red is stereo sound and yellow is picture)

All of that aside you should just be able to plug your VCR directly into the SKY+ box and pass the signal; through that to the TV. This will also let you tape stuff from sky+ as well I believe.

You may also be able to pass the PS2 signal through your DVD, if you can do both of these then your only using 2 scarts at the TV end.

Also read your manual for TV and see if one of the scarts is RGB, if so then plug the component you care about the highest quality from into this socket and make sure you are using a fully wired RGB scart lead for it.

How many Scarts does the DVD have?...

Mine has 2 so I have:

Sky(to Watch)--->DVD<--->TV(AV1-RGB Scart)
Sky(for Record)--->VCR<--->TV(AV2-SVideo Scart)
PS2--->TV(AV3-SVideo+Red/White)

Though I still have:
TV(AV4-HDMI)
TV(AV5-RGB)
TV(AV6-15D)

If your DVD only has 1 then its a Switcher i'm afrade!... they're about £10 for you local highstreet store or upwards of £100 for a high spec one with remote!
