Hell!! \m/
I am thinking of clearing up my drive with 3 copies of Ubuntu and 1 Mint (LOL) and having it dual booted? but it is the home folders I wanna have shared and then my big app/programs?
I will backup these copies first that I have and clean install. Would Windows 8.1 then Ubuntu be best? I game, mine and file share. The drive is an SSD here's sizes

256GB SSD -
(under Windows they look)
C:\ Windows 8.1 40GB NTFS
D:\ Linux Ubuntu 14.04 Ex4/3 30GB
STICTLY O/S's and small programs then these
Linux SWAP 8GB
Home Folders *NTFS so both read them* ``120GB?
Software/Data 50GB NTFS

Home folders are gunna maybe also in the future be shared to allow my Android Phone access and a Laptop will sync (maybe)

/mnt/files or E/Home
Documents
Downloads (all browser dl's, ftp and completed torrent/nzb)
pictures
photos
videos
Pubilc (this)
VirtualBox VM
Music
eBooks (calbre for Kindle)
Game saves
Password/Private (handle backup seperate)

My other drive Software/Data is less personal but big files that are shared between both. All will be on the same drive. Now what I want is my Home Partition to be betwen both drives so, if I download a video on Windows to my download folder I boot into Linux and it's there and both OS's wll point to it. Same with Pictures and everything else.

One thing is I wont be able under Windows to use Linux EX4 as *system* files in which aint a problem. The Software/Data was meant to be in with Home but I was thinking of Game installs, as I'd like Ubuntu to pickup steamapps

But to confuse things I want my program cfgs too, Also, maybe have my SABNZB/Torrent stuff too, so whichever I use I resume I know under Wine I might be able to point to it. So which OS is running wont matter

I would have to make sure all my file saves are cross platform eg, if I save Gnucash files and can't access the file under Windows.

Now future ideas are:

I will have maybe another drive and partition off 100GB for backups/restore points my pw's encypt on a pen drive

My phone / laptop will be using these too maybe like sync'ed

I wanted to encrypt my priv data well home folders, I think the only way is dual platform program to unlock my home folder with a password, I don't wanna lock myself out

I'd like to backup what I can of these installs and merge em all.

What's that? Mac/IBM or something, I remember it in a BIOS "boot to os/2"

The Q is, Can it suppprt 1440P with a solid dev team (not the boring ones the type you punch hard or base ball bat and they are just stunned and keep coming at you looking like lizards)

Sorry

You have a legitimate talent for writing in a way that is just slightly above utterly broken that really, really confuses the brain.

Sorry for confusing you, I am being a knub. I mean home folders by home, not Home edition.

The idea was install Windows 40GB with UEFI then Ubuntu on 40gb and make 2 more partitions one for my home folder and one for programs.

When I install Windows software I can run it under WINE under Linux and I am hoping to use the same config. Steam and games will be on the prog partition as game files are big and I want them spanned on both OS's.

The deal is the Home folder partition. It'll have both OS's pointed to each folder. So if I download a PDF in Linux it'll be under my downloads in Windows. SABNZBD/Torrents can pickup where they left off on either OS.

I might be happy on Windows 7 even but I have a key for 8 here. Just gunna get this backedup first
