Had some electrical issues so electrician had to break the flooring to get to wires. Anyway I'm left with this. What would the best way of leveling the floor be to redo the flooring? Try and find similar foam used?

TIA

Could be wrong... But that looks like concrete floor and was told today by a sparky that if you're going to lay cable under concrete it must be encased in steel.

Perhaps this is because I'm doing a new rewire whereas yours is existing?

It's concrete, then this foam (the type you get as packaging which is a nightmare to clean up) and then just board.

I am no electrician but should that wire not be more to the wall rather than sitting there under the floor specially near the right side where there seems to be a channel where it was i cant see that been ok with the regs of today

It just appears to be standard polystyrene sheet that you can pickup at most DIY stores.

What's with the very low surface mounted socket and trailing cables? Is that SWA cable? It's certainly not naked PVC T&E.

I know nothing about all this. This is the original cabling that was used when the house was built so maybe standards are not what they are now? The electrician only took the floorboards out the find the cable and it was under the floorboards.

That is fair enough, i personally would not leave live wires under floors like that if i was doing DIY and seen that i would either change it myself if i can or get it re routed but that is just me. Hope no one forgets the cable is there and tries to hammer down a nail to stop a squicky floor board in the future :)

On the plus side it is armoured cable so should be quite tough, bit strange seeing it inside on a socket like that though LOL.

Match the polystyrene then board copy whats there. :)

Thanks I'll just copy what's there.
