I'm thinking of upgrading. I don't have a huge amount of money to put into it, so I'm not looking to get a Phenom II, or indeed a new processor at all at this point. (Maybe in future an X2 7750?). Memory and graphics card I'm happy with, so could I get suggestions on a replacement motherboard please? I'd like to get some better overclocks without frying the NB. I was looking at the asus M3A78 Pro (£80). I'd prefer not to go over £100 ish on a board, so does anyone have experience with that board and chip? I'm hoping the chipsets are similar enough that I won't need to re-install windows to get it working.. (XP Pro, 32-bit, SP2)

Mobo: Asus M3A
CPU: AMD X2 6000+ (3.0GHz)
Memory: 4x1GB GeiL 6400C4 Ultra
Graphics card: 8800GT + Thermaltake DuOrb CPU Heatsink: Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer.

Current speeds:
Clock: 218Mhz
CPU 3052MHz (218x14)
Memory: 872MHz, 4,4,4,12 2T
Graphics: Core 645MHz, Shader 1560MHz, Memory 1900MHz HyperTransport Link: 2180MT/s

I managed to get the overclock to 3.15GHZ CPU, 900MHz memory, but that pushed the HyperTransport link to 2.25MT/s which made it get quite hot (58-60°C after 10 mins of Prime95. Temp reported by Speedfan)

Temps: Currently, nothing goes above 55°C. CPU hits max at about 45, so I know theres headroom there.
I get graphical artefacts if I try and push the Graphics card any higher.
Got plenty of room on the memory, cos I can relax timings a bit, and I've still got 0.2v before I hit the manufacturers recommended limit of 2.3v VDIMM.

VDIMM 2.1v
Vcore 1.475v
V-NB 'Auto' Because I don't know what the stock voltage is.

Thanks for your help

imo you'd be throwing hundred quid away, youre not going to get much more out of it by getting a new mobo, if I were you Id wait til you can afford a whole new system
