How smoothly do gaming mice scroll?

I currently have a Saitek Gaming Mouse, its just over a year old. When i move pointer/cursor from left to right across screen its movemnet appears somewhat jerky.

Are all mice like this or do smooth move more smoothly?

Mine get like that after while, its Verdigrease from your hands, strip it down and clean all inners.

My mouse does not appear to be strip downable? I think i'll try a new one!

mine does this sometimes, Just clean it all. Did the job for me!

What are you using as a mousing surface?

I currently use a QPAD gaming matt, have also an Allsop one and have tried a Steelpad. As i said initially, when i move pointer across screen, whether up/down or left/right the pointer movement is not smooth, it looks jerky, as if its dragging, or catching on something. Problem is i think this is affecting games as when panning left/right/up/down movement is not smooth and again appears a bit jerky!!

The Teflon feet on my Razer Diamondback keep it scrolling smooth - no fancy surface, just a free mouse mat I got with Supreme Commander

The movement across the Matts feels smooth. It just appears jerky on screen! Methinks its the mouse!

got the same mouse and have had it for around a year I think. works just fine.

Certainly sounds like something is wrong with it, am I correct in saying it's a wired mouse?
