how strong is scaffolding?

Interesting. I;ve recently spent nearly £400 on a powertec rack.

I don't know if i'd trust the unit if I built it myself though with scaffolding. Also, that build in the picture does not look like it has any supporting 'legs'. Imagine if you fell back with a heavy load, the whold thing would topple over.

I've seen a similar build but made from wood instead. I think for people on a budget it works quite well but it's never going to be as good as a 'proper' rack.

Edit: also, is that an elastic band holding something in the pic?

i saw that too and wondered at first lol. don't think its supporting it though.

i don't wanna buy a power rack for few hundred quid if im only gonna get a few months use out of it. but ill regret it if a scaffolding one breaks on me lol

anyone know where i can get a outdoors powerrack? most seem to be indoors

rubbish, if its done right then scaffolding is plenty strong enough.
if you werent sure about it then a touch of welding will secure it even more.

I'm sure you can climb it, someone was having their chimney done the other day and they built scaffolding up

so if i am adjusting it quite a bit (depending on if doing squats/bench press etc), quite a chance that theres going to be one time i don't tighten it ...

Tell you what, forget about putting weights on the thing and instead just tighten the nuts up really far, then try to loosen them, then repeat over and over again... that should give you nice big arms and no need to worry about things falling on your head :)

well it would need to be for legs / pecs mostly really. i don't think that would work somehow. :P

if you forget to tighten it enough then you are foolish and probably deserve to scare yourself when you drop the weight :p
