How tall is your TFT's screen?

Mine is about 27cm tall.

I've got a 20.1" 16:10 TFT, and I'm looking for something bigger, but I want more height as well as more width.

I'm concerned that buying a 23"/24" 16:9 TFT may give me more width but no extra height. A 27" 16:9 may be out of my budget (with an IPS panel anyhow).

So, for people with 23"-27" 16:9 screens, how tall is yours?

[edit: measuring only the panel, not the plastic frame & bezel, in case that wasn't clear :)]

Where are you measuring the height to... the top of the monitor, or the centre of the viewing screen, as 27cm doesn't sound very much to me?

Just the visible pixels of the screen (what I call panel size...but maybe that's not the right term?)

So not including any part of the screen that doesn't display the image.

I'm using a 27in 16:10 VA panel Dell 2709W, vertical panel height is 36.5cm.

If you want to have a look at the new Hazro 27in monitors. The HZ27WC uses a 27in IPS 16:9 panel and is expected to cost around £400-420 when released in a few weeks. Here is an in-depth review. As this is a 16:9 27in monitor then the panel height will be a bit less than mine - but it is still taller than you current one (33.62 cm). Also, the resolution of the Hazro is pretty great at 2560x1440 - so the vertical resolution of the Hazro is larger than the dell.

Thanks andi,

That's a bit on the pricey side for me :(

I'm looking at the Dell u2311h atm, only an extra 1.5cm height, but crucially it's 1080p, and my 460 should be man enough to drive it in games.

I think the 460 would struggle at 2560x1440... and I think my eyes would struggle with the .23mm dot pitch!

If £400 is cheap for a 27", then I might start looking at 1920x1200 24" instead, if anyone still makes them?

If you are happy to drop down to a TN panel then this one offers the 1920x1200 resolution and a very large size for not that much money. Ofcourse, in terms of image quality and viewing angles it isn't on the same level as the U2311H or the Hazro, but people who have one say it is a good screen for the money and works well in games.

If you want a 1920x1200 (16:10) 24in IPS monitor, then this is what Dell offers. I would also suggest you look for the HP ZR24w, its not on OCUK but is a cheaper 24in IPS 1920x1200 monitor (it has less features than the dell).
