How to bench My upgrade...

Hi all,

I've just been handed the following:

Random coolermaster case
500w OCZ PSU
12GB of Kingston DDR3 1333mhz RAM
P6T mobo
I7 930 Quad Core (8 logical threads) @ 2.8ghz
Random 500gb HDD
No gpu

I'm coming from a Quad Core q6600 @ 3ghz
On an ASUS P5Q
with 6GB of DDR2 800mhz

Do people think this will be a substantial upgrade?

I want to find out how much of an upgrade this will be from my current setup. So I was thinking of running a benchmark now and running it again when I've nicked the CPU, MOBO and RAM out of this new rig.

What's a good bit of software to test this with?

Gives you a good comparison between the two in a large variety of tasks.

The 920 is a little lower clocked than the 930, but the results are of a stock Q6600 so they sorta cancel each other out.

Bloomfields are notoriously easy to overclock. For example see sig
