How to benchmark your whole system?

I was wondering if there's a general consensus on how to benchmark and entire system as I would like to make sure all my major components (CPU, GPU, SSD etc) are all running as they should.

SiSoft Sandra has a huge range of benchmarks for most subsystems - for stress testing a range of hardware at the same time you'd probably have to mix in a couple of different benchmarks - though it is pretty rare if hardware fails in combined use that passes individual torture tests.
