Hi Guys,

I'm on work experience and I've been asked to try and 'break' into a cisco 2600 series router because they cant get into it as they dont know the password.

I have had a look on the cisco website but its sort of going over my head, so could someone help me with how to break into and reset to factory defaults a cisco 2600 series router? :)

cheeers

EDIT: SORRY I MEANT 2600 SERIES :)

Which password are they missing?

The Telnet password or the Enable password?

Try connecting directly via the console port, if you can't get onto that see how to reset the password with the above article.

If you can get a console session, type 'enable' to see if you can get into Priv. Exec. Mode.

If that asks for a password, get it wrong three times and then type 'show run'.

This should give you the enable password, however, it my be encrypted. If it is encrypted, you'll need to reset as above, if not, it's in plain sight.
