How to build a bathroom cabinet like this?

In an ensuite I'll have space to do a cupboard across the width. It'll be the best use of that space as I can maximise worktop space and area.
When the ensuite has been made I reckon wall to wall I'll have a space of 1.4m

I've done a brilliant drawing to give an idea of what mine would look like, but it'd be very similar to above, I'd just have an open shelved section on the right hand side for gubbins.

In my laymans mind I would just use timber framing with a painted moisture MDF for the entire frontage? For the shelving section I would use the same and just need to create the framing?
The top will be solid surface or perhaps a nice wood top, I haven't decided that bit yet.

If it’s a bathroom - MR MDF make a kitchen carcass type design - and doors to match. If you know the sizes and are happy to sketch it up, and use an sheet goods planner - you can probably just give it to any timber yard and they’ll do the cuts for you.

You might have tinkering to do once you actually get it in but as far as DIY goes it’s infinitely doable!

Have a look at Peter Millard or Charlie DIYTE on YouTube.

If you make a timber frame and then just add sheet materials.

Maybe consider furniture board, it’s veneered in a water proof coating, you can overpaint it or just leave it. It comes in white.

I'm thinking whether it's worth using moisture plasterboard as the frontage and doors. It'll be easier to paint the same colour as the wall and will have that flat matt finish, whereas if I have to paint the MDF the finish might not match the wall.

Those furniture boards could be the very thing I need for another two concepts I have planned!
In the bedroom I'll be putting in 2 wall niches either side of the bed and want to put a wood surround, a 15mm oak furniture board will be perfect for that, also in another bathroom I want to build a shelving unit and can use the furniture boards instead of solid oak shelves.

Issue with furniture board is that any moisture - I mean proper spills etc - just get sucked up in to it - see any bath panel in a family (messy kids!!) bathroom!

In reality - any sheet material that can handle moisture / humidity with sjowee etc - will be fine!

I’d you look at normal bathroom cabinets - they’re just like kitchen cabinets in their construction. Normally just wrapped in a denser / more hard wearing laminate or vinyl.

As for painting - if primed properly - MDF paints beautifully.

Looks a good project though!

Will still try to post pics- but struggling… as usual!
