Hi Guy and Girls
I am helping a friend fix a case switch problem, I have done a search on the forums and cannot seem to find anything on the subject of use.
My friends boy came in from football practise a bit peeved at not being picked for the team this weekend just gone and took it out on his computer. He has press the switch so hard it has broken a) The plastic mount b)the switch itself. The switch has two small spade connectors which I assume are + and -/earth?
Little does the boy know santa is getting him a new PC for crimbo so my mate popped into the local electronics store and bought a clamp on/down black switch with two spades on the back with the idea of drilling a hole, clamping the switch in as a temp fix.
However it turns on for around 5 seconds then straight off again
. I have put a multi meter across it and it reads 1 and 0 when the switch is on and off, so switch is working. At a guess you need a "special" type of switch since there is software restart and off without the actual switch being operated. And the next time you operate the switch is goes on again, although a normal switch you would need to turn off to enable you to get it on again.
Any help with the correct switch would be great, many thanks.
