How to Change a Keys Setting in OSX?

Basically i bought my laptop from the us, as a result its an American keypad. So how do i change the key input so that when i do (shift + 4) it comes up with a pound sign rather then a dollar?

Bit of a guess here but System Prefs, International, Input Menu, tick British and untick U.S.

Alt+3, the pound sign on the US layout is on the hash key.


###### hashing it up baby, yea.

I'd do that way anyway, I'd rather not screw up the $ sign and forgot what key to press to use it for when I do use it.
