How to change my ‘start button’ colour

I’m looking to change if possible my start button colour from the mank green to either silver or black, I don’t mind changing my how task bar to black, but I don’t want to install windows blinds or things like that, as my pc is getting on a bit now and I understand these things although amazing are quite memory hungry.

Any ideas guys?

you just need to patch a windows system file called uxtheme.dll and then you can run any visual style you like with ZERO resource usage. you'll find most themes in the desktop thread are of these kind and are not window blinds/style xp.

most files that you download with be either zip/rar. you just need to extract them to \windows\resources\themes then you should be able to select them from the display properties dialog like this.....

The easiest way to do this IMO is just to look for a theme you like on deviantArt, then download and install the UXtheme.dll patcher, reboot.

Unzip the theme you've downloaded and double click on the *.msstyles file and you should be sorted.
