How to change to new plate....

Just bought a plate from the DVLA for the first time ever so can someone give me the simple how to guide please...

I own the car so no finance to let know so im assuming its buy plates once i get the paperwork and have them ready to install. Then process the change with DLVA and once they say its done i put the plates on and call the insurance to let them know?

How does the tax work do i have to redo it or does it auto change once i register the new plate to the car?

That's exactly right, and the tax/mot will automatically be updated.
