How to check if 290 will unlock?

Just got my XFX 290s in and was wondering how to check by model version if it's the unlockable one.

Gibbo said something about checking the serial of their own cards for preflashing, so what do I need to be looking at?

Step 3 of the unlock guide.

XFX cards are quite hit and miss, before my Powercolor cards (which are all unlocked) I had three XFX cards and none of them were unlockable.

You may get lucky though I think chances of getting a 290x gpu are harder now than they were a few weeks back.
