How to clean heatsink and cpu?

How can i get all the gunk off?

ive cleaned the heatsink... damp cloth

as for the cpu, the same? or not

There is cleaning Fluid made by Akasa which is excellent.

I just wipe down with a cloth or some baby wipes and it does the trick if i havent got none of that handy. Just
make sure there isnt any Hair and its fine.

Isopropyl alcohol and cotton wool.Cleans all the gunk off and evaporates into the atmosphere leaving no trace

Why not just use a bit of vodka on some kitchen roll :cool:

and use coffee filters

they are execllent, no lint and you get about 100 for like 50pence

I got mine from an auction site for 3 quid.However you can get it from the chemist too.

Lint free cloth or tissue paper is what I use give both the CPU & Heatsink a good 5 min rub each, done the trick for me all the time in the past.

For the heatsink i use a compressed air dusters which removes virtually all dust frm the heatsink and also uses no chemicals wich get transferred onto the heatsink itself, as for the CPU i suggest a citrus based cleaner widely available from most computer shops

I clean my heatsink and CPU in the following fashion:

Clean again with Akasa TIM
Clean both with meths, using a bit of loo roll
Dry h/sink with loo roll
