It's an X-Black screen on my Sony Viao. I was going to put a little glass cleaner on a cloth and give it a little wipe. Would that be okay or would it damage it?

Anti-Static lenses cleaner seems to do the job for me. The stuff you use to clean your glasses etc.

Trouble with water on glossy surfaces is that it looks a mess when it dries if you don't dry the screen somehow afterwards.

I use Isopropyl Alcohol on my glossy macbook pro screen to clean up spots.

Does an awesome job.

Used with a lint free cloth!

i just used water and kitchen roll when i had my vaio with x-black did a fab job looked brand new ....got sick of x-black screens as they show every little mark up so on my macbook i got the nice clean sharp normal one MUCH BETTER :)

Isn't the anti-glare layer going to go bye bye using Isopropyl Alcohol on it.

Dont think so, i use it on my Expensive camera lenses and its fine.

If you check the ingredients of the screen wipes from stores it says Isopropyl Alcohol.

i used to just gob on mine and use a pair of grids that happened to be laying on the ground to sort mine out..

But now there's a special laptop screen cleaner out there that does a much better job..

sorry don't know what its called

Would it be safe to use on matt screens too?

Can you use any of these methods on LCD TV? I have a Tosh 42" tv and while my back was turned for a second my youngest daughter put her greasy mits on the screen. In the right light you can see the prints and while watching tv annoys the hell out of me...Im frightened of using anything on the screen as I dont want any king of smear marks left, will it get the screen looking like when it was new?

IXOS Care seems to do the trick. Comes in a tub of 100 and cleans things like laptop screens lcd/tft/plasma etc.

it's best to wipe off with a lint free cloth to avoid those nasty streaks as it dries though.
