Apologies for the copy of a post to the laptop forum, but it may be more relevant here.

I've got a work MS Surface Laptop (I think it's a Surface 2) which I connect to 2 monitors:
  1. Philips Brilliance S272B, via the magnetic surface adapter port and dock, then a USB-C to the monitor. This monitor then acts as a hub to other peripherals including printer, network connection etc.
  2. Benq GL2460 from the mini-displayport via an adaptor to the DVI-D on the monitor.
I'll be getting an MS Surface 5 15" laptop, but this doesn't have a mini-displayport.

I've tried daisychaining the Benq monitor from the Philips in the past with no success (via HDMI or displayport on the Philips - not sure which). But it probably wasn't a thorough try as the monitor worked via mini-displayport.

I think the Philips will now connect via the USB-C on the MS Surface 5, not via the Surface Connect Port.

Can anyone advise on how to connect the Benq? Have I missed something re. daisychaining from the Philips, or is there a way of connecting the Bemq from the USB-A on the laptop?

Doesn't the dock have more than one video output?

You can get usb c to mini display port cables although I've had no experience with them. I'd try that and see if it works if it was me, the cables aren't that expensive.
