How would i connect all 3 consoles to my surround system? I can only connect 1 at a time (except wii) to the surround system.

The xbox 360 and PS3 connect to the surround sound system with a Digital Optical Cable.

thanks.

You'll need to buy an optical awitch box from any electronic hobbiest store.. I got this one for my PS3/360 and V+ Not sure about your Wii though?

Digital Optical & Coaxial Audio Switch Box
Manufacturer: Bandridge

• Ideal for playing digital audio from 3 different sources (Games, MP3 Players , DVD ,CDs etc) into an amplifier with 1 digital coaxial and/or optical input
• Converts digital optical signal into digital coax or vice versa
• Select between 3 optical inputs and 2 digital coax inputs
• Dolby Digital compatible
• 6V/250mA Power supply included

This simple Plug and Play switch is the ideal digital audio companion for the multitude of audio sources connecting into today s home entertainment system. Providing both extra inputs and the option of converting a digital signal from optical to coax it ensures however few digital audio inputs on your receiver, you can enjoy the best sound available via one attractive box.

This about the cheapest amp available @139. It has 2 optical inputs. Sound quality will destroy any PC speakers.

Then pick up 4/5 second hand speakers off ebay.

In the future, when you have more cash add these speakers. 2 x 2 pair @29.99 per pair

Power Rating (Watts) 130 Maximum power output long term/short term (RMS) (per speaker?)

=seriously decent!!!

Your responses far from encourage help, try to tidy up your posting style, you come across badly.

Sorry but the guy is asking for some simple help and all he is being told to do is sell his system and get another one. Hardly help now is it? If anyone here already had a system and could spend £25 on a switch box, or £250-£300 on a new system, what do you think they would do?

Robert1986: the switchbox is your best idea mate.

i think in fairness it was the lack of information divulged in the opening post that led to the brief unhelpful response. It is important when asking for help that you give as much info as possible if you wish for people to return correct advice. Going by the OP he could have had anything from a Bush to a Bose with any range of connection possibilities.

Im just saying that its hard to give clear help where there is no clear question and responding with posts like "What sort of help is that?" will only make matters worse.

How would i connect all 3 consoles to my surround system?

Not picking hairs but he quite clearly states his current system. Not "What are my options to connecting them all up for digital sound" - of which could include purchasing a new setup

On topic - An Optical switch would do the job I believe

I thought the part where i said i connected my consoles with a Digital Optical Cable was enough info.

The "get a new system" remark was flame bait. I thought i handled that reply well. If you have nothing worth while to say, don't bother posting in this thread.

Thanks for the guys that helped me out, appreciate it.

I think "get a new system is fair advice, might not be the correct advice but your current system obviously is not "quite good enough" since the whole point of your posting was that you didnt have enough connections for all your equipment.

A new system with 3 + opticals would do the trick, thus it was good advice.

I have a new 32" HD TV. I have all 3 of my consoles connected to it via VGA,HDMI and component. Only 1 can be connected to my surround sound system at once.

Most mid range (ie affordable) decodes/surround kits have 2-4 optical inputs and a few analogue ones to boot. However this is a bit of a null point anyway since those optical switches that were suggested would do the trick. However they do seem pricy, i would consider getting a new amp if i were you, you could get a great one for between 150-200 which would have loads of input options and chances are you could use your current speakers with it too.
