Real Noob question here. I have a PS3 which im plugging into my Dell 2407WFP-HC LCD via HDMI and a DVI adapter. The monitor has no speakers but i have my PC speakers which are Logitech Z-640 5.1's. How can i connect the PS3 to use those speakers in 5.1?!

I'm lost trying to get from the Digital Optical out of the PS3 to the 3 x 3.5mm (orange/black/green) connectors of the Logitech Z-640's. Is there a sequence of cables and adapters i can use or am i stuck with having to use the AV out with a 3.5mm adpater and have stereo only?

Im really struggling to understand this. Please put a Noob out of his misery if you can? :(

Hi

you cant do it mate your stuck with stereo from the av out you cant get 5.1 into that speaker set it has no optical input and no onboard 5.1 decoding.

Thanks for the replies guys. Very much appriciated. Its a shame I was hoping there might be a converter box or something i could use :(

So if i use an AV to stereo mini 3.5mm jack convert cable then plug that stereo jack into my Soundblaster Xtreme Music line-in I should be able to get stereo sound from the logitechs? Im guessing the line is the same as the microphone input on the SB card?
