How to connect Leadtek PX7800GT Extreme to power supply.

The card has a 6-pin power connector located at the top edge of the card. It came with a power-split cable which has a yellow, black and brown cable for each split. What do i connect these too?

Cheers.

Do you mean one of these splitters?

If so, plug the 6pin end in to the card and then plug 2 molex (4pin harddrive type) connectors on to the 2 4pin ends.

Welcome to the forums btw, it's recommended you read the FAQs :)

the 4pin type connectors that you plug in to your CD/DVD drives, harddisks etc.

Basically the opposite to the white parts of the connector pictured above. There should only be one type of connector coming from your PSU that will fit these plugs.

It's probably the most simple adapter possible...

There is one type of connector that comes from the PSU that will fit in the white parts of that cable. You should have a fair few of these coming from the PSU and it should be obvious where they are.

You plug these in to the white parts of the adapter, they will only fit one way and no other type of connector will fit.

You then plug the black end in to the card, again, it will only fit one way and will only fit in one slot...

Hey presto, you've got your power for the card.

This is if you don't already have a 6pin connector coming from the PSU anyway. If you do, just plug that in.

What PSU have you got?

All the connections coming from the PSU are all connected to something. Give me a few minutes to get the details of my power supply. Thanks for the help.

Some more advice would be very helpful. I looked at some power supplies and some come with special connectors for PCI-E graphics cards. Will that solve my problem?????

Cheers Phil. So with that power supply i can connect the graphics card driectly to the power supply using the special power connector for PCI Express graphic cards? Yeah?

Is there anything i need to take into account like the size of the power supply?? or they roughly the same size?? I got some spare room around my current power supply.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to replace your PSU if you're running a 7800GT but do you realise you can just make 2 of your currently connected devices use the same molex by using a £1.50 splitter? That'd free up a molex for the graphics cards PCI-E splitter.
