So i recently got hold of a TL-WA730RE range extender. I've had a thorough look online on how to connect it but have failed dismally.. Reason being that i have a sky router without the wsa key which they state to press to connect the extender to the router.

This is the closest thing i found to help on the internet but with me having a windows pc i couldnt find out where and how to do it.

There are a lot of reviews on here saying you can set it up in 2 minutes, yes you can if your existing router has a button on it that talks to this extender. I have the generic sky router - it has no button. The mini CD does not fit in a mac superdrive and the paper instructions are a joke. I went on their website and eventually found the correct guide. I will try and put this in plain english. Basically you need to:
plug it into your mac via ethernet cable,
go into your network settings, select ethernet,
change to manual IP address, temporarily change your IP address to 192.168.1.1,
then enter the ip address 192.168.1.254 in your internet address bar, this brings up the admin page for the router,
from there you can choose set up and scan for you existing wifi signal.
Choose the signal and enter your routers security password.
Re boot the extender. Job Done.
The only thing left to do is revert your ip address back to the old one, you just knock it out of manual and back into DHCP in ethernet settings.

if anyone can help at all and give a step by step guide in how to get this up and running it will be greatly apprecaited

many thanks :)

Try changing the ip range address to the same as your main router ie if it's 192.168.0.1 for router then make extender 192.168.0.254.
