How to connect this for TV audio please

Morning all after little help for a friend he purchased this from currys

Hes after getting sound out of his TV. But this speaker doesn't allow optical only RCA. His TV is a fairly old LG. How do i go about getting the sound from this speaker tried the RCA from his TV to speaker but nothing any help be great thanks. This speaker does allow TV sync
 
A standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm from the headphone port to the aux in on the speaker should do the job. Would mean the sound would always be through the speaker though.

Be difficult to provide exact info without knowing what outputs the TV has. Phono out would be better.
 
If the speaker only has RCA connection, then assuming the TV has a 3.5mm output, a 3.5mm jack to 2x RCA cable should do the job. Not ideal though, as the 3.5mm audio output on most TVs sucks; I know mine does.

As above, RCA audio out from the TV would be ideal, if it has that. If it's an older TV it may have that.

If not, then as the TV does have optical, he could get a SPDIF DAC for around £10, which will have optical input and RCA output. I got one for my TV to connect to my amplifier.
